PHS Alumni Renowned for his Santa Images
This Christmas card is part of a Limited Edition Series offered by the Rock Hill, South Carolina Culture & Heritage Museums.
The artist, Vernon Grant who also created the infamous Kellogg's characters Snap! Crackle! and Pop! was also renowned for his paintings of Santa Claus. Each year the city of Rock Hill where he eventually settled holds a Christmasville Festival featuring his art, and the museum releases a special Christmas Card featuring one of his Santas. Each year Grant's biographer sends a Christmas card to Porterville High School, Grant's high school alma mater. Grant graduated from high school in 1921 when the school was located at the current Belleview School location. Grant was a member of the Basketball team, the Band, and the Art Editor of the El Granito Yearbook.
